If I ask you to name the major causes of stress in your work life, you would probably say things like deadlines, a heavy workload, bureaucracy, or your terrible boss. You probably wouldn’t say “having to make so many decisions,” because most people aren’t aware that this is a powerful and pervasive cause of stress in their lives. Every time you make a decision you create a state of mental tension that is in fact, stressful.
WEEKLY SHCEDULE: Create a weekly schedule that shows times and days for each item that must be repeated, eg: meals, clothes, exercise, work items, home cleaning, clothes washing, toiletries, time with children, time with parents, time with friends, time for phone calls….Schedule it all into a daily/weekly routine and you will almost immediately begin to feel yourself relax and de-stress about these activities. Because they are PLANNED.
FIRST THINGS FIRST:
Do something first thing in the morning that will ensure your day is a success. This is the ace in the hole. It’s easier to roll out of bed when you know what you’re going to be doing, and if its something that will start you on a great day even better, exercise, vitamins, dancing, shower… create a routine that works for you….
MEANINGFUL DAILY STEPS:
You know how good it feels to make progress on the meaningful things in your life. So do something about it. Have a simple plan the night before of what step you’ll be taking towards your dream tomorrow. What is the one thing that would make today a success if you completed it? It may only take 10 minutes or maybe two or three hours.
PLAN TIME TO ENJOY LIFE:
Rushing causes stress and kills happiness, Only plan to do 1 -3 core things daily, and allow twice as much time as you think it will take. DONT fill every second of your calendar with tasks… be sure to PLAN time to smell the roses and ENJOY LIFE… with pleasurable tasks included.
